I got to Louisville Thursday afternoon, grabbed a salad from Qdoba on State St (finally getting good restaurants there now!) and headed over to my parents' house. It's always so good to see them! I was tired from getting like 4 hours of sleep and flying all morning, so I took a power nap, and got ready for the Louisville/Rutgers game.
We went to Ruby Tuesday and got dinner:
(Roasted Red Pepper marinara on Spaghetti Squash! Fantastic!)
Then we headed over to the stadium. I had been worried about how I was going to get around at the game in my condition all week, but I managed. Mom and Dad dropped me off near gate 3 where I met up with my sister!!
We got to our seats, and quickly started taking pics and videos. We always have so much fun!
Mom and Dad parked the car and then found us at our seats.
Fun with Instacollage!
I couldn't stand as much as I wanted to during the game, and I was still toast by the time I got home. SO glad I was able to go, and only had one event like that to have to make it through!
The next day, I was totally exhausted. I relaxed at home all day, then went to Wicks to meet some friends.
My outfit of the day:
I was so excited to be able to wear fall weather clothes and boots!!
Allison and Sean!
When I was on my way to my car, I saw this. The dog was barking at everyone and was wearing a pair of Doggles!
I didn't leave Wicks, so I wasn't able to get my chicken and dumplings that I wanted, so I made this when I got home.
The next morning, Mom and I had our coffee and overnight oats.
I saw on Facebook that my chemistry teacher and orchestra conductor from high school were having a yard sale just down the road, so I dropped by to say hi. This was such a cool and random visit, and I absolutely loved seeing them!! Amazing people!
Then, I went home and made Healthy Pumpkin Spice Butter with my Mom, and had it with some apples.
We just hung around and watched football all afternoon. Purdue got their asses handed to them by Nebraska. I can't say I was surprised, unfortunately….
Later that evening, I got ready and went down to harvest homecoming again so I could get my chicken and dumplings. I walked to get them, and they were SO worth it!
Then, I got some pumpkin pie ice cream which was heavenly. I didn't take a picture of it, because it disappeared very quickly!
While I was down there, I saw Jennifer who I danced with in high school. It was so great to see you, Jen!!
I also snagged these two headbands from a booth on my way back to the car. They were only $5 each!!
I had a great weekend at Harvest Homecoming! I wish I could've walked around the booths more, but I'm still in no condition to do a lot of walking. I almost always stand for pictures, though, so it may look like I'm all better, but unfortunately I'm not there yet. I can say, though, that I'm no longer on crutches, and no longer feel like my condition is getting worse. Considering the entire course of this injury, that is a huge deal! The fact that the ultrasound showed some improvement, and I don't feel like it is getting worse has made me have hope again. Real hope-not just the “I'm hopeful because I need to stay positive to get through this” kind of hope. If things keep going the way they are, I really am going to get better! I learned this weekend that I am nowhere near 100%, and can still only walk around for about an hour before I start to really get pain. Once I get pain, I'm toast and have to sit or go home and lay down. Despite the situation, it was SO good for me mentally and emotionally to get out of the house and see friends and family. I've been so cooped up, lonely, and (a little bit) depressed at home that I desperately needed this trip. I feel like I've been recharged now, and I'm ready to go back and heal completely now. I'm really excited to get back to Phoenix. I think I want to try and start swimming again. Even if it's only 20-30 minutes every or every other day, I think it will improve my mood to get out of the house, and get some endorphins going. I am still driving with my left foot, but driving doesn't hurt as bad as it did. Yay for some progress!!
I hope you guys had a wonderful weekend, and Go Colts! Beat the Chargers!!
