Chocolate Craving Problem Solved

February 11, 2014

For some reason, I've been craving chocolate like a mad woman these last couple of weeks! I totally caved Saturday night, and again on Super Bowl Sunday. Actually, let's just not talk about Sunday……

I knew there had to be a way to satisfy my craving without completely killing my healthy eating habits. I was thinking about it, and realized that I had dark chocolate powder in the cabinet, bananas in the freezer, and a Vitamix. Hmmmm……I wondered how a smoothie would taste with chocolate powder added to it. So I tried it!

I used one frozen banana (cut in half), and about 1-1.5 TBSP of the chocolate powder. I also added a little bit of almond butter (about 1TBSP), a pinch of kale, a pinch of spinach, about 3/4-1 cup of unsweetened vanilla almond milk, and ice.

Blogsy won't sync with You Tube right now, so here's my little video of me making it:

It was so yummy that I forgot to take a picture of it before I drank it! So here's the after pic:

You couldn't even taste the greens, and the chocolate flavor was enough to make my craving happy :-). I've also done a chocolate strawberry banana, and a chocolate orange banana smoothie. I don't always add the almond butter, and in fact, I wouldn't do it every time. Almond butter is great for you, but really better in moderation due to the calorie content. The fat is good fat though, so don't be afraid of it! I get the Maple Almond butter, because I love maple flavor and the nutritional stats are the same as the regular.

What tricks do you have for guilt-free or less guilt treats!? I want to know! Leave me some love below with your best ideas!

Happy Trails!

Stacey

Thanks girl!! It’s even better when you add a little bit of Nutella ;-). That’s something that is good in small doses lol! (It’s great by the spoonful, but I try to resist the temptation!) Definitely let me know how you’re turns out! A little bit of kale goes a long way, too, btw.
