I just wanted to give you guys an update on my recovery from my surgeries. This third surgery has been rough. It was more extensive than the first two, and the recovery time has been much slower. I had to take about 5 steps back in PT, because I couldn't even do a side leg raise the first week! Now, I can just barely do a clam (lay on your side, knees bent and toes together, lift knee and lower, without a band around my knees) with minimal pain. I have also moved along to being able to do my bridges with the pelvic core ball with almost no pain. I graduated from those in about a week in PT after my second surgery to give you a perspective on the difference this time around.
Needless to say, it hasn't been easy. It could very well take 8-12 weeks for me to be back to at least standing for a long time (more than 30 minutes) without pain. I've noticed some improvement in standing time, but I'm still only at between 30-45 minutes right now. Dr Guanche originally said I may be able to run on the AlterG or use the elliptical at 6-8 weeks, but I'm not getting my hopes up.
I haven't lost faith, though. I'm trying to stay positive and know that this is a real true surgery rehab situation that is expected to move slowly. I've been through a lot, and I'm really ready to be back to normal. I feel like I need to pick another board certification to study for!! Let's wait to see if I passed the BCACP first before jumping to anymore crazy endeavors :-).
As always, thanks for your continued support and word of encouragement! Thanks for stopping by!!
