Feels Good to Be a Working Woman Again

August 18, 2014

I’ve been so busy you guys! I started working again last Friday after 15 months of disability. Can you believe it was that long? I was honestly nervous, because I haven’t been off work for that long since before I graduated college. You guys know how much things change on a daily basis in the corporate world, right? So imagine my fear of having so much to catch up on, and worrying that I might screw something up unknowingly. I had a script dropped off for “hydrocodone ER 10mg caps,” and was like “no such animal, doctor, try again. Awesome, it’s after hours, and I’m going to have to track down this ER doc, etc.” Well my friends, apparently now there is such an animal, and it’s called ZoHydro. Imagine those apples. Good thing I double checked!!

I also had SO many learning modules to catch up on! I got a nice chunk of them done during my overnights last week, but I still have a ton left! I have two more overnights this week, and hopefully I can finish up my training and be ready for a more normal schedule.

Besides the training and catching up with things, I feel like I’ve slid right back into the saddle. It’s funny how when you’ve been doing something for so long, it’s just like riding a bike when you go back to it. This Tuesday I will have 16 years with Walgreens. I honestly feel valued and very well taken care of after this past year. I love the direction the company is going, and look forward to many more years to come as a team member. I’ve been with Walgreens for half of my life! That’s insane!!

Anyway, it feels amazing to be back, and even more amazing to just be a staff pharmacist. I might take a step back from management for awhile. Since preparing for and passing my BCACP, I have already noticed an improvement in my clinical skills. I love the feeling of confidence it gives me to really be able to help patients above and beyond what I ever could before. This is what I mean by loving the direction the company is going. I see a lot of opportunity to grow as a clinician and a professional, and couldn’t be more grateful.

Today, my supervisor asked me if I could cover a store from 4-9, because the pharmacist there was feeling sick. I agreed to cover, and decided to try my luck at heels since it was such a short shift. My supervisor wears heels all the time like a rockstar, and I’ve learned through my many attempts that I’ll never be as cool as she is. I made it through the five hours, but I did take them off a few times. They’re so cute, though, right??

If anyone knows of a brand of super cute heels that are comfortable enough to wear for 8-12 hours of standing, please let me know. Flats and running shoes get old after awhile.
Above is my OOTD. I believe the entire outfit is from Kohls. I just love that place!! The peplum cardigan has already come in handy twice since I’ve been back to work. What a great find!! My little footie socks are from there, as well, and are so cool! They have a rubber patch inside of the back of the sock to prevent your shoes from rubbing a hole in the back of your foot. I’m going back to get more for sure!
I also took a picture of my MOTD (makeup of the day) after my shift was over. My eyeshadow was the star of the show, but really isn’t showing up well in this pic:

I used one of my all-time favorite shimmery light pinks (MAC’s Swish) on the lid with Verve from the Naked 2 palette on the inner corner. I placed a gunmetal color (Stila’s Pewter) on the outer V and pulled it up into the crease. On my bottom lashline, I used a black eyeliner smudged out with MAC’s Sketch.

Swish, Sketch, Pewter

Mascara was Lo’Real Voluminous Full Definition, and lipstick was a classic, Angel by MAC. Next time, I’ll take a picture on my way out the door so you can actually see the eye look.

That’s all for now. Once I’m done covering these overnights, I should be back on a regular blogging schedule. I hope you guys have a wonderful week, and I’ll be back very soon!

Happy Trails!

Stacey

Here on the blog, I share my experiences living a healthy lifestyle, trying new products, and living the PugMom life. I also like to blog about makeup and beauty stuff, because although I’ll get dirty hiking mountains or riding my bike here in Phoenix, I’m a total girly girl!
