If You’re going to complain….

I am not in a good place right now. You guys know what’s going on physically, and that’s leading to a not-so-good emotional and mental state. I read a few friends’ blog posts tonight that helped me to realize that even though things might not be good now, they will get better. It’s going to be a long road to healing, and an even longer road to get back to running. In the end, though, it’s all worth it because running makes me happy. It makes me feel like I am capable and strong. It allows me to set goals and achieve them. It gives me something to look forward to, and something that enriches my life in ways I could never imagine! So I’m trying to keep it positive. Everyday will be a challenge for me, so bear with me, please Smile.

I’ve been complaining a lot lately. I don’t want to be the complainer that that just sits back and doesn’t at least try to help themself-that’s annoying. So trying to be the “not hypocritical” person that I strive to be, I thought I’d show you guys what I have been doing to help with my situation. Yes, not doing anything (as in resting) is what I really need right now. I’m not talking about anything crazy here, just things I can do mostly while not on my feet.

The most active thing I did today, besides going to a meeting this morning, to Dr. A’s, and to Walgreens, was do a few yoga poses that don’t involve hamstrings. I’ve figured out that if I go from child’s pose into plank, into a chaturanga with a few push-ups added, it doesn’t bother me! I don’t stay in plank long enough to really engage my hamstrings. I tried downward dog before I did child’s pose, and felt like it could end up being too much if I went to deeply into it. That’s why I switched it.

I also did some laying tricep extensions, some mini-bicep curls, and some arm raises (working deltoids) while laying in bed. A few sets of these everyday, and I may come out of this with arms like Coach Susan, Meeker or Karen! Wouldn’t that be awesome!!!! Open-mouthed smile

IMG_2334

Still haven’t gone to the pool yet. Not going to lie. I will get there. Baby steps. I’m probably going to end up getting doctor’s approval before starting to swim. I’m not messing around here, people, this has to heal for real.

IMG_2332

You like my strategically censored photography skills?? So I’ve also been wrapping the little bastards with ACE bandages for a few hours at a time, and wearing compression socks to stimulate blood flow. You see, these tendons that are inflamed don’t get a lot of blood flow compared to muscle tissues. Blood flow helps with healing, and they can use all the help they can get! It may be a long shot with the socks, but at this point, I’ll try anything!

IMG_2333

Then there’s the ice packs. I have been icing the areas for between 15-30 minutes around 3-4 times per day. This is pretty standard for hamstring tendinitis and for many other injuries. It seems counterintuitive to ice when you want to increase blood flow, right? That’s what I said. However, Dr. A says to only use ice because it helps with inflammation, which will also help with healing. So I listened. I know, there’s a first time for everything. Winking smile

IMG_2336

Last, but not least, I have been applying this a few times a day. My fellow Ragnar teammate and running friend Melissa from Trying to Heal recommended this because it helped her when she was injured last year. I already had some at home, so I said why not! It’s too soon to tell if it’s working, but it definitely doesn’t hurt to try. Thanks for the suggestion and words of encouragement, Melissa!

IMG_2324

Always trying to eat my almond butter sandwiches and the bananas on top. Spoiled.

IMG_2319

That’s why she’s spoiled. It’s so hard to say no to a face like that! Do you guys see what I’m up against? #pugmomproblems

Anyway, I think I’m going to order in my favorite wonton noodle soup from Beijing Beijing for dinner tonight. I don’t feel like standing and cooking or going anywhere to get anything.

Is anyone else excited for the season premier of So You Think You Can Dance tomorrow!!??? (Which from here on out will be referred to as SYTYCD. Please make a note of it, lol Smile.) I AM!!!!! I know you are, Ari!!! You’re going to have to come over one of these nights for a viewing party!!

Ok, now I’m going to go. I’m hungry. Ya’ll have yourselves a good night and I’ll be on here a lot more in these coming weeks!

‘Til next time…

Happy Trails!

Waiving the White Flag

I’m sitting here on my couch, hamstrings wrapped tightly with ice packs, watching TV. This is what I’ve done all weekend when I wasn’t at a meeting or my friend Abbey’s baby shower.

No running. No biking. No Yoga. No nothing. Even standing at work for more than 10-15 minutes at a time hurts. I surrender. I’m waiving the white flag. I’m going to do whatever I need to do to make this injury get better. So far, that has been a lot of this:

IMG_2192

I’m getting depressed. I feel helpless, incapable, and broken. I’m not looking for a bunch of sympathy, I am just venting because I am really frustrated. It’s so easy to take health for granted. To take something as simple as running, or being able to run, for granted. It’s kinda crazy how you realize all of the functions your hamstrings serve when they are broken! Even driving hurts. Pointing the toe for an extended period of time (on the worse of the two legs of course) eventually causes pain.

My only hope now to stay in shape is swimming. Once I start feeling a little bit less pain, I want to try it out. I haven’t been able to get myself motivated to do it yet. I will soon, though, and when I do I’ll let you know how it went Smile.

On a happier note, Ms. Tater had her teeth cleaned and a couple of suspicious bumps removed from her neck on Friday. She is doing great! Her puppy breath has gone from stinky back to puppy breath, and I couldn’t be happier! Dr. Iverson will be letting me know what the bumps turned out to be and if she got everything when she removed them (if they turned out to be something bad, that is.) I’ll keep ya’ll posted on that, as well. Look how stinkin’ cute my baby is!!

IMG_2276

This is her thinking if she hides under the chair, maybe she’ll be safe!

IMG_2282

This is her right after surgery. She was just a little stoned, that’s all!

IMG_2285

IMG_2289

I don’t have a whole lot else to write about, since I spent most of my weekend in bed or on the couch. Devin and I watched Safe Haven, and it was good! Poor guy had to suffer through a chic flick, and no complaints! What a good guy Smile.

Now I am going to watch the season finale of Revenge. Word on the street (a.k.a. Facebook) is that it leaves quite the good cliffhanger. I hope everyone has a great week!

‘Til next time….

Happy Trails!

Running 13.1 in My Old Kentucky Home

I’m on the plane right now somewhere over Texas on my way to Louisville just thinking about how cool it’s going to be to run a race in my hometown tomorrow.

I was (imagine this) running late this morning to the airport , and couldn’t find a spot anywhere in the east economy parking lot. One of the security ladies told me there were spots in the NW corner of the lot, so I went there. I saw a spot, and immediately said “thank you God!!!” and took it! Then, some lady that had been sitting there, blocking the road with her car lolly gagging, talking to someone in another car, and taking her sweet time proceeded to yell at me and say something like “she had been waiting for that spot for 10 minutes” (it was just some gibberish, I don’t know) and called me a bitch and drove away. All I can really say about that is you snooze, you lose, and have a great day wallowing in your misery. Then, the guy driving the shuttle told me that he was an unbiased bystander, not to let her ruin my day, and that she was totally out of line. So there! People have issues….me? I’m on a plane to run another race, I’m so excited, and I’m not going to let her steal my thunder!

Then, I got to the check-in, told the lady I thought I wasn’t going to make my flight, and she said “You might make it! If you don’t, well put you on stand-by for the next one so don’t worry!” I checked my bag, said a prayer that it makes it so I don’t have to run naked in just my running shoes tomorrow, and ran up to security. I took my shoes off in line, and a guy said something funny to me about it, and I told him I was running late. The lady at the front of the line motioned for me to go to the front ahead of her, and I said “thank you so much! I love you!!” I made it through security, and ran to the gate still holding my running shoes! Turns out, they were running about 15-20 minutes behind, so I got really lucky! I got to board with my group (group A!! woo hoo!)) and made it in plenty of time.

So that has been my morning so far. Hopefully, this day continues to be calm like it has since I sat down. I got an aisle seat because I‘m that person who has to pee every  5 minutes and I hate being annoying! I think we are about halfway there right now if I’m doing my math right. I’m going straight to the expo to pick up my packet when I land, then going home to have a quick carb-full dinner, and crash ASAP. The race starts at 7:30am, which is actually 4:30am AZ time. It’s going to be a rough one!

IMG_1928

I found this on a Facebook page that I follow, and it absolutely hit home for me. Thank God life is this way for me now. I am a perfectionist, and have always had trouble being patient and letting things slowly get to the way they are supposed to be, or slowly improve with hard work. This is pertinent to many areas of my life now. I just love it!

Yesterday, I got a couple of keys made for my apartment so my awesome new pet sitter can have one! I now have the coolest house key on the block, kids:

IMG_1930

Speaking of pets, Ali was laying in the middle of my bedroom floor this morning looking especially “loaf of bread-ish”

IMG_1933

It’s like she knows when I am packing that something weird is going on, and she doesn’t like it Luckily, I’m not going to be gone for too long this time, and then I have several more days off to hang with her Smile

IMG_1927

This is what happens when I eat clementines. Ali knows it and wants some for herself.

This post is so random! Maybe I’ll actually tell you guys a little bit about the race tomorrow. So it is the Kentucky Derby Festival Marathon and Mini Marathon (a.k.a. half marathon.) It starts around Waterfront Park along the Louisville riverfront, goes through Churchill Downs (the full goes all the way out to Iroquois Park) and comes back to the finish around the same area as the start. Essentially an out and back.

I SO wish I was doing the full! I know it sounds crazy, but I was really hoping to be able to come home to the Ville to do my first 26.2. I wonder what would happen if I just switched and left all reservations behind and did it? Oh yeah….I might have to crawl after mile 15 and end up with no hamstrings attached. Damn….not this time.

However, it will be this time:

NYCM 2013 Acceptance

Second time’s going to be a charm, I know it! Smile

On that note, we are landing soon, so I have to go. I’ll be taking plenty of pictures tomorrow and will post them soon!

Happy Trails!

Having a blast in AZ!

My parents arrived for their visit Friday night, and look at what Ali got before they even walked in the door!! WHAT a spoiled grandchild!IMG_1768

IMG_1769

It’s a new Louisville squeaky toy!!! Ali absolutely loved it! See her smile!?

IMG_1774

IMG_1775

Even Mommy got presents!! Can’t get these anywhere out here!

IMG_1776

This is Ali pooped after having Grandmamma and Grandpapa throwing her toy across the room and playing fetch with her all evening Smile.

IMG_1777

IMG_1778

IMG_1779

I got to take them hiking on Telegraph Pass, which was the first trail I ever successfully hiked since I started being active again! They made it to the top and kicked some ass!!

IMG_1785

IMG_1787

I have texted them this picture from the top of Telegraph SO many times, and today, they got to see it in person! Photos just don’t do this justice!

IMG_1786

Sportin’ my Team Chances NYC shirt I had made for NYC Marathon!

On our way down the mountain, this little guy decided to climb out of the flowers he was eating and say hi!

IMG_1793

IMG_1797

IMG_1800

I named him Larry the Lizard. Then, at lunch, we determined that he is, in fact, a Gila Monster! So I have renamed him Javier, the Gila Monster Open-mouthed smile. He really posed for us! He was fearless! Little chunky monkey, too! Too many flowers, buddy!! You better start hiking the trail, too, lol!

We went to lunch with Karen, Susan and Kat today at Pita Jungle. As I’m writing this, I just realized we forgot to take a picture!!!! Dang it!!! It was SO much fun to introduce my parents to some of my amazing friends that I have out here in AZ. They aren’t just friends, they are like family Smile. Thanks so much for having lunch with us you guys!!!

Ok, I just realized that I did get a picture of my Curry Chicken Salad:

IMG_1804

Leave it to me to get a picture of my meal and not my friends, lol! It was fantastic, as usual. I love Pita Jungle!

Then, we went shopping at Chandler Mall so I could take Mom to Lululemon for the first time ever!! I also took her to Lush for the first time.

After the mall, we went to have FroYo at Yogurtland-because FroYo is awesome. This is not the last time they will have it in AZ, either, lol!

IMG_1805

IMG_1808

SO good!! Dad had strawberry cheesecake, Mom had Spiced Chai, Crème Brulee and Red Velvet, and I had Red Velvet and Spiced Chai.

Then, we hung out at my place and watched some TV and called it a night.

More hiking in the morning for us! We’re probably conquering about 6.2 miles on South Mountain. I better finish this up so I can get some sleep!!

Happy Trails!!

Bringing It Home After 27 Years!

IMG_1708

The Cards have done it again! Wowed us all with both the men’s and women’s basketball teams playing for the National Championship!! Tomorrow night, Louisville Men’s Basketball will take on Michigan in the big dance for the big prize! It has been 27 years since they brought it home, and I think its about time they did it again! Ali agrees, as you can see Smile. They beat Duke in 1986 by a score of 72-69 under Denny Crum (their second national championship-first was in 1980.)

I just went to double check that the score I remembered was correct before I made an ass out of myself on here, and learned something really interesting! Thanks Wikipedia!

“The 1986 NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship Tournament was the first tournament to use a shot clock limiting the amount of time for any one offensive possession by a team prior to taking a shot at the basket. Beginning with the 1986 tournament, the shot clock was set at 45 seconds, which it would remain until being shortened to 35 seconds beginning in the 1994 NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Tournament.”

We learn something new everyday….

Is anyone having major allergy issues right now? I just spend about a solid five minutes sneezing my head off. I also had to take my contacts out because my eyes were bothering me so much. To top it off, my nose is sunburnt, so rubbing it hurts! Sad smile Wah!

Random, I know. Anyway, so I just finished Gone Girl, which was given to me by my Mom for Christmas because she liked it. I really did like the book, and recommend it, but the ending was dumb. That’s all I’m going to say. Now I am going to resume reading Reflected In You by Sylvia Day. I loved Bared to You, so I hope this one picks up and ends up being as good.

I’ll  blog more this week, but now I am going to bed. I have to save up some energy to make it through another game tomorrow, because:

540681_10200798095702087_617158539_n[1]

Hopefully tomorrow won’t be as stressful as yesterday’s game. Either way, I know we can win, and I sure hope we do!!

GO CARDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

L1C4!!!

Happy Trails!

Random Weekend in Review Pics

IMG_1345

How cute is he!?? I wasn’t super excited for it to be Friday this week, because it was my weekend to work. I did have a vacation day scheduled for Sunday, so that made it a little better. I ended up actually helping out my scheduler on Saturday by picking up a 2am-8am shift to prevent a store from having to close. In return, she covered my 10am-6pm shift Saturday. This means that I worked 9am-9pm Friday, went home and slept for two hours, then went back to work from 2am-8am. Yes, it seems crazy, but after Ragnar, I knew I could handle it. It was only a six hour shift, so it wasn’t too bad. Then, I felt like I had the whole weekend off! It worked out, and I’m glad I did it Smile.

Friday night when I got home, I checked my mail, and look what I got!!!

IMG_1348

IMG_1349

IMG_1351

I was so excited! I changed my laces on my running shoes right away. I mean, it says you run faster with pink shoe laces, right!??

After I got off work Saturday, I went by 24 Carrots to get breakfast to bring with me to my usual Saturday morning meeting. Look how amazing this looked:

IMG_1355

It was called an Arizona Bowl, and it had fresh veggies, potatoes (sweet and regular), soy chorizo, avocado, and greens. It was really good! It definitely helped me meet my goal of 7-9 servings of “Freggies” a day for the Booty Buster Challenge! (Freggies=fruits and vegetables if you haven’t figured that out yet)

I’ve been thinking about getting a new car for awhile now. Since moving and living on my own, I have had an itch to get a car with a lower car payment, or at least upgrade to a car that justified it.  Long story short, I ended up with a payment on my Sentra that was way more than it should’ve been. If I was going to pay that much for a car, it needed to be a much nicer and more luxurious one.

So after I woke up on Saturday, I decided to take a little trip down to Chapman BMW and check out what my options were. After credit check and number crunching, I was given three options. This was by far my favorite:

IMG_1363

She is a 2010 BMW 128i convertible. I wasn’t planning on getting a convertible, but after driving her, I just couldn’t resist! Isn’t she awesome!?? After all of these years working as a pharmacist and making decent money, I think I deserve to have a nice car of this caliber. So I got her!!!

IMG_1364

IMG_1367

Chapman did an awesome job of taking care of me and everything that had to do with funding me the perfect car. I highly recommend them if you are looking for a BMW. As crazy as it sounds, my payment only went up a little bit from hat it was before! Yay!!

I am still in shock that I actually drive a Beamer! Too cool….

I woke up Sunday morning and had overnight oats with almond butter, flax seed, slivered almonds and sliced banana. What a great combination!

IMG_1369

Then, I headed out to run some errands, and meet Karen out at Pomegranate café for lunch. The weather was amazing, so I decided to go topless:

IMG_1371

At Pomegranate Café, we split the daily burger and a healthy burrito that came with veggies and hummus and root veggie fries. I also got a shot of wheatgrass and a Cowgirl Cookie.

IMG_1375

Does anyone know if a regular juicer will juice wheatgrass? I have been wanting to find it somewhere and try it.

Then we went to get a pedicure. I hadn’t had a pedicure done in like a year! I used to get them all the time. Now that I have so much nail polish, though, I just can’t justify going to get them done very often!

I brought Ali home a Lamb Chop toy for Easter season:

IMG_1374

It has a big squeaker in the middle, and little squeakers in each paw. Needless to say, she loved it!!

I did a modified WOD for exercise today. It originally looked like this:

IMG_1361

I don’t have barbells at home, so I changed the bench press to pushups, and did sit ups instead of cleans. I used a 15 lb kettle bell for the dead lifts since my hamstrings are still weak. It got really hard to do the push ups after I got to the 8, 7 and 6 rounds! I did it in just over 11 minutes:

IMG_1379

Then, I made baked spaghetti squash bowls with a black bean burger spaghetti sauce, topped with low fat mozzarella cheese for dinner. It was absolutely amazing! This is one of my favorite healthy recipes to make. It is SO easy! Cut the squash in half, take out the seeds, add salt, pepper, spray with EVOO, and bake for 55 minutes at 350.

IMG_1376

Make whatever kind of sauce you want. I warmed up a spicy black bean burger, chopped it up, and added it to Ragu I had in the pantry. When the squash was done, I poured the sauce into the  “bowls”, topped with cheese, and broiled for 3-5 minutes. This is what I got:

IMG_1381

Absolutely delicious! I am super excited to have one to take with me to work tomorrow.

I saw this on Facebook today, and it made me laugh Smile

IMG_1384

I hope all of you had a great weekend! I am off to bed to rest up for an early Monday.

Happy Trails!

Hurts SO Good

I’m sitting in a hot lavender epsom salt bath right now soaking away my soreness….hopefully! Today was my first day back to work in a week, and it definitely hurt to stand all day. I felt like such a whiney baby talking all day about how it hurt to stand, walk, bend over, crouch down, etc; but it did! SO BAD! Such a good sore though!

I did my third, and by far the most intense CrossFit WOD yesterday. She didn’t have a name, but she sure was a bitch!

Tuesday’s WOD of Torture:

Every minute on the minute for 16 minutes

5 kettle bell swings (18lb KB for me)

5 SDHP’s (Sumo Deadlift High Pulls)  w/KB

5 Double Unders

This may seem like a piece of cake to the experienced CrossFitter, but it was tough!! You progressively slow down as you get tired, which causes there to be less rest between sets-or no rest! Those double unders will catch up to you, too, because without even realizing it, you are annihilating your calf muscles.  Needless to say it was an amazing and challenging workout. Props to Coach Steph for kicking our asses Smile. I love leaving a workout feeling like I left all I had out there. Bring on bikini season!

IMG_1283

Completely toast after CrossFit!

I also took this little turdlet to the groomer to get her nails trimmed today

IMG_1271

and she proceeded to turn me into the most embarrassed Pugmom on the planet. She first got the cone of shame put on her. She knocked it off twice fighting the groomers (yes-she needs two of them to hold her still), so they put a muzzle on her. Muzzles are for dogs with a snout. Well…..you can probably only imagine what this one looked like with a muzzle on. It almost covered her eyes! She fought tooth and nail (haha!) until they finally finished. Needless to say, I tipped her $5 on a $10 job, and profusely apologized for my furbaby’s psycho, Kujo-like behavior. She said it was no big deal, and that all pugs are like that. She’s way too nice. So Ali survived, and she got a treat from the groomer with hopes that she will just remember the treat and not the rest of the experience.

IMG_1274

I made this yummy and healthy bread for breakfast for the rest of the week. Stay tuned for a post with the recipe. I am too tired to write about it tonight. I have another 12 hour work day tomorrow. Believe me, though, it turned out great!!

I joined the “Run to the Finish Spring Booty Buster Challenge” which starts March 4th and runs through April 21st

Spring-Challenge

I will explain more about it in a future post that is coming soon. One of the things you get points for is drinking at least 64 ounces of water per day. I bought this to help me achieve that goal:

IMG_1285

IMG_1286

It holds 32 ounces, so I just have to drink two of these per day! I got it at Safeway for around $7.

IMG_1287

Random cute Ali pic #1: Ali using my slipper as a pillow.

IMG_1293

Random cute Ali pic #2: Ali telling Mommy she needs a new toothbrush. I know Mom….I know….like father like daughter….

IMG_1292

Last but most definitely not least: FroYo + Thin Mints + Nutella….SO good!!!

I am now going to get some sleep to prepare for round two of 12 hour days tomorrow. Tomorrow is my Friday!! Again!! Woo hoo!!!

Who else gets to celebrate Friday tomorrow?

Any CrossFitters out there?? Advice for a newbie!?? Please comment!

Plans for the weekend?

Happy Trails!

Taking the Plunge

After my super duper early morning meeting today, I slept in until a time that I will not disclose. Let’s just say when my body needs to catch up on sleep, it doesn’t give me a choice! At my meeting today, a friend had this on his phone, and it’s like God put it there just for me:

IMG_0897

All of the people in my life who are close to me know that I am very impatient. This was exactly what I needed to hear today.

After I got up, I had sautéed scallops, seared rare Ahi tuna, and wonton soup that I made myself.

IMG_0906

I got a chance to watch The Doctors and Ellen. Ellen was hilarious!! She showed some autocorrect fails that were just great! I had some laugh out loud moments with myself and Ali. She just looked at me like I was crazy like she always does.

I decided today to take the plunge and try CrossFit for the first time. I have heard so much about it and read so many blog posts about it that I have become intrigued. Before I left to workout, I had an idea that my new rolling cooler might be useful at the WalkRunWag 5K9 this weekend! If you remember last year when Ali and I did the 1 mile run/walk, I had to carry her about 1/4 mile into the race because little princess got tired. Ali and I met some friends that were nice enough to let her ride in their wagon for a bit. This year, I am going to be more prepared! It looks like the cooler will also double as a pug stroller Smile.

IMG_0914

IMG_0918

I mean seriously how cute is she!?? She didn’t even hate it!!

So then I headed over to the Ahwatukee CrossFit box to try out my first WOD. I joined this special program that they have for people new to CrossFit. The first two weeks consist of three days per week of learning different exercises, and then doing a WOD (Workout of the Day for those who don’t know) right after. The last week is a week of unlimited classes to try out the real thing. The WOD today looked like this:

IMG_0920

I couldn’t push it on the run like I would’ve liked, but it still felt pretty good to finally be running again. It didn’t hurt, but I still didn’t feel like I was completely out of the water with the hammies yet. I did the push ups on my knees, because I don’t have a ton of upper body strength yet. I am definitely working hard to get there, though! The ring pulls were hard! They are a precursor to pull ups, and I have a long way to go! I was the first one done out of the 5 of us, finishing at 10:31. If I could run faster, I would’ve knocked a good couple of minutes off of that time, I know it!

IMG_0919

IMG_0921

IMG_0922

Loved this. TOTALLY true and I think everyone should see it. Don’t you agree!?

After CrossFit, I headed over to Hobby Lobby to pick up stuff to decorate the vans for Ragnar this weekend. They have so much stuff! I love that place!

Then, I went to Ross to pick up something that is going to be a surprise for my Ragnar girls Smile. Of course I had to stop and take a look at the shoes.

Check these out!!

IMG_0934

IMG_0933

Two words: Michael Kors

Open-mouthed smile

They were almost 50% off of their original price. These will get a lot of wear. Only you guys will know that I got them at Ross Winking smile. Don’t tell, k?

IMG_0928

Dinner was sautéed then baked halibut, brown rice with quinoa, and mixed steamed veggies with fresh juice for dessert. The juice has kale, spinach, parsley, celery, beets, oranges, apples and ginger.

I work tomorrow, and then have the next 7 days off!! It’s kind of hard to believe I am taking a mini-vacation in February! I have a lot of stuff planned, and will have a lot to blog about, so stay tuned!

I just want to thank those of you that take the time to read my ramblings. This is really fun for me, and I enjoy sharing my life with everyone. I have been told by some people that I inspire them to workout. This is the first time in my life that I have been told such a thing, and it makes me happier than I can even express! The fact that what I am doing with my life can inspire others to do the same makes me want to keep doing it, and keep striving for better everyday.

Two women (of many that inspire me) that I want to give a shout out to today are Jamie M. from Indiana that is faithfully at her Boot Camp every morning getting her sweat on. She is a wife and mom of two, and is a perfect example of someone who cares enough to take time for herself to be healthy everyday. You are an inspiration, and have gotten my lazy ass out of bed before when I wanted to go back to sleep. Thank you for that!

Also, my half sister twice removed Stephanie A. She decided that come hell or high water she was going to get fit this year! No matter what it was that lit a fire under you (we know what it was, and that’s ok!), you are kicking ass and taking names. There’s no stopping you! I wish more people would take the bull by the horns even if they feel like the odds are stacked against them. It just goes to show that you make your life happen. Stop blaming everyone else or your situation for failing. DO something about it. Even if you lose boob on the way, your skinny jeans will thank you and you can join the itty bitty tittie committee with me. You just have to be VP, because I’m prez.

On that note, I am hitting the hay. This girl has worked out a lot over this 4-day weekend, and feels fantastically tired. Excited for another “Friday” at work, and then the real fun begins! T-minus 3 days until Ragnar!!!

Happy Trails!

New Year, New Life, New Beginnings

2012 was a very crazy year-especially the last quarter. There were some major challenges at work that were completely out of our control at store level. It was really rough for a long time. Stress levels were through the roof, and I even dreaded going to work sometimes! It got better after the first half of the year, though, thank God!

I trained all summer for the NYC Marathon, only to have it cancelled right after we checked into our hotel. Although we did make the best of the situation, it was still heartbreaking. We all worked really hard for that day, and it didn’t happen. Luckily, we will be attempting it again next year with our guaranteed entries into the race!

I am now single and living on my own in my own place. It’s a long story, and not appropriate to talk about on here, but I am happy. That is all I will say about that.

I’ve been waiting for everything to finalize to post this, but I’m tired of waiting. Lord only knows how backed up the courts must be for this whole process to have taken so long. It really doesn’t matter when the divorce is finalized, though, because I’ve already been on my own for almost 4 months. Everything in life happens for a reason. I don’t understand the half of why things happen. It’s frustrating. I do know, however, that God has a plan for me and it has to be good. I am not a patient person, and that is something I am working on. Progress, not perfection-thank God-is okay. I am more than blessed to have some really amazing people in my life that are there for me, and have been there for me through all of this. It’s been a rough road, but I am well on my way to recovery (at least I hope I am!)

My new place, however, is awesome! I am super excited to show all of you what I have done with it!

Tater Tot Takeover-SuperBowl Sunday

Does that mean that my dinner bowl will be super big!?? Woohoo snort snort! So Mommy is at Hot Yoga, and that means only one thing: hijack her laptop again!

Mommy shared her banana with me this morning.

She offered to share her coffee, but I’m a crack head pug as it is, so I passed…

I hears that the Colts aren’t in the SuperBowl this year….I need to have a talk with the people that made this game up….

For now, though, I’m going to make sure I guard our home while Mommy is sweating like a crazy person trying to look like me in the morning (I am the master of downward dog-Mommy wishes she was as cool as me!)

Pugs and Kisses!
