Hurts SO Good

February 28, 2013

I’m sitting in a hot lavender epsom salt bath right now soaking away my soreness….hopefully! Today was my first day back to work in a week, and it definitely hurt to stand all day. I felt like such a whiney baby talking all day about how it hurt to stand, walk, bend over, crouch down, etc; but it did! SO BAD! Such a good sore though!

I did my third, and by far the most intense CrossFit WOD yesterday. She didn’t have a name, but she sure was a bitch!

Tuesday’s WOD of Torture:

Every minute on the minute for 16 minutes

5 kettle bell swings (18lb KB for me)

5 SDHP’s (Sumo Deadlift High Pulls)  w/KB

5 Double Unders

This may seem like a piece of cake to the experienced CrossFitter, but it was tough!! You progressively slow down as you get tired, which causes there to be less rest between sets-or no rest! Those double unders will catch up to you, too, because without even realizing it, you are annihilating your calf muscles.  Needless to say it was an amazing and challenging workout. Props to Coach Steph for kicking our asses Smile. I love leaving a workout feeling like I left all I had out there. Bring on bikini season!

Completely toast after CrossFit!

I also took this little turdlet to the groomer to get her nails trimmed today

and she proceeded to turn me into the most embarrassed Pugmom on the planet. She first got the cone of shame put on her. She knocked it off twice fighting the groomers (yes-she needs two of them to hold her still), so they put a muzzle on her. Muzzles are for dogs with a snout. Well…..you can probably only imagine what this one looked like with a muzzle on. It almost covered her eyes! She fought tooth and nail (haha!) until they finally finished. Needless to say, I tipped her $5 on a $10 job, and profusely apologized for my furbaby’s psycho, Kujo-like behavior. She said it was no big deal, and that all pugs are like that. She’s way too nice. So Ali survived, and she got a treat from the groomer with hopes that she will just remember the treat and not the rest of the experience.

I made this yummy and healthy bread for breakfast for the rest of the week. Stay tuned for a post with the recipe. I am too tired to write about it tonight. I have another 12 hour work day tomorrow. Believe me, though, it turned out great!!

I joined the “Run to the Finish Spring Booty Buster Challenge” which starts March 4th and runs through April 21st

Spring-Challenge

I will explain more about it in a future post that is coming soon. One of the things you get points for is drinking at least 64 ounces of water per day. I bought this to help me achieve that goal:

It holds 32 ounces, so I just have to drink two of these per day! I got it at Safeway for around $7.

Random cute Ali pic #2: Ali telling Mommy she needs a new toothbrush. I know Mom….I know….like father like daughter….

Last but most definitely not least: FroYo + Thin Mints + Nutella….SO good!!!

I am now going to get some sleep to prepare for round two of 12 hour days tomorrow. Tomorrow is my Friday!! Again!! Woo hoo!!!

Who else gets to celebrate Friday tomorrow?

Any CrossFitters out there?? Advice for a newbie!?? Please comment!

Plans for the weekend?

Happy Trails!

Stacey

Your Fro-Yo pics always look so TASTY!!!

Ali is so cute. I can’t believe she’s so difficult when getting her nails trimmed… Poor thing. It must really give her anxiety. I do my dogs nails. I just make them lay on their back in my lap while I “Pedi-Paw” them. Lol… This makes me realize I should never take their patience for granted. None-the-less Ali is adorable.

Great job with the CrossFit. You’re sore because your are getting ripped!!!! Good job girl!

I’ve been working out again too. My back has been really bothering me, so I’ve been dedicating more time to abs in hopes that strengthening my core will alleviate some of the pain I’m having. Working these days is torture on my feet and legs. So I’m walking more on the Treadmill and spending a LOT of time stretching my legs and lower back and I also do calf raises at work to increase circulation to legs while I’m there. This weekend I’m getting new shoes for work. I need something special to make it through the day!

Seeing these posts has me really excited to get a trainer and get back into shape post-natal. In the meantime I’m signing up for a Prenatal Yoga Series starting in mid-March. So excited!!

Great job Stacey! You are amazing! Heart you!

That’s so awesome!! Prenatal yoga will be perfect for you! That sucks about work….aspecial pair of shoes will help a lot, I’m sure. You should also get compression socks or sleeves. Pro Comression is really cheap. They almost always have a coupon code for like 40% off. Skinnyrunner.com often has her own coupon codes for them because she promotes them. Let me know if the shoes or compression socksor both help you! Muah!! Thanks girl!
