PRP Tomorrow

August 18, 2013

A lot of you already know that I got my results back from my ultrasound on Wednesday. Here is the report:

My tendon is torn, and has scar tissue and fibrosis, i have bursitis in both legs, and inflammation of both hamstring muscles and my piriformis. how 'bout them apples?

Tomorrow, I am getting PRP injections in both legs. PRP stands for platelet rich plasma. It is a non-surgical treatment for soft tissue injuries and joint pain. My blood will be taken, centrifuged, and the platelets injected into the injured tissue. Platelets contain growth hormone and cytokines that basically tell the body to focus on healing that particular area. It stimulates an inflammatory response that leads to restored blood flow, new cell growth, and tissue regeneration. It is my last hope, guys. I have had to avoid taking anti-inflammatories for two weeks, and will for two weeks after. No ice for two weeks either. I was told the procedure is painful, and can cause the injected areas to have mild to moderate pain for up to a week after. I'm going to be out of commission for a couple of days, and have amazing friends that have offered to take care of me :-).

I just wanted to let you guys know the next step in my recovery. I will report back on everything soon. I have a fantastic recipe I will be sharing with you this week. I had it for dinner tonight, and it was amazing!

I hope you all have a great week!

Happy Trails,

Stacey

Good luck Stacey! I hope that: everything goes well in the procedure; you don’t have too much pain; recovery goes quickly; and that this works and allows you to run again.

    Much love lady!

I’m so hopeful you have a good recovery. I know how frustrating it is to not be able to do everything you want.

In the meantime, I nominated you for a Liebster award! Check out more about it here – http://rosegoldbuttercream.blogspot.com/2013/08/liebster-award-nomination.html

Here on the blog, I share my experiences living a healthy lifestyle, trying new products, and living the PugMom life. I also like to blog about makeup and beauty stuff, because although I’ll get dirty hiking mountains or riding my bike here in Phoenix, I’m a total girly girl!
