Aaaaand Now We Wait….

August 19, 2013

I made it through my PRP!! I was a little nervous about the pain I expected to experience during the procedure, but it turned out to not be that bad! Here's how it went:

I got to the office an hour early so they could draw blood and prepare the platelets. They drew two 60ml syringes of blood. Here is one:

The MA's said it was about half of the amount that they take when you donate blood. Then, they put each syringe through the centrifuge machine, which took a total of 32 minutes (16 minutes each syringe.)

Once the platelets were prepared, here was what the syringe looked like:
See those needles?? I tried not to look…..lol
Here was the ultrasound machine they used to guide the needles to the perfect precise place:

GE! Kinda made me feel good to have a good old GE product being used on me ๐Ÿ˜‰

Lindsay the PA and Lorraine, the ultrasound expert came in, and I got on the table. They first injected lidocaine into the tissue, then switched the syringe and injected the platelets. Before I knew it, I was done!! Karen was with me the whole time keeping me calm. What an amazing friend! I love you, girl!!

So far, I am not in much pain, but the area is still completely numb from the lidocaine. We'll see how I feel in a few hours. Karen's friend told her that his wife had PRP, and that it was “miraculous.” I am SO hopeful!! This is GOING to work! I will be able to stand for more than 15 minutes without pain!! I am thinking positively ๐Ÿ™‚ PA Lindsay said that it could take up to two months to do its job. That's ok!

It is ironic that today is my 15 year anniversary with Walgreens. Wag has been SO good to me!! They are providing me with this opportunity to get better. I feel like Wag is my second home. I couldn't be more grateful for the opportunities they have given me. I am beyond blessed :-). I miss my Wag family at 4422!! Next time I come back guys, rest assured, I will be completely better, and back for good.

So now I sit here at home watching season 8 of Weeds, drinking an iced coffee and chillin' with my puglet :-).

She's like a 10 year old on the first day of school-“Mom do you really have to do that??” Heehee ๐Ÿ™‚

See those portobellos on my plate on the couch? That recipe will be my What's For Dinner Wednesday this week. They turned out incredible, and I can't wait to share it with you!!

Have a great day everyone!!

Happy Trails,

Stacey

Here on the blog, I share my experiences living a healthy lifestyle, trying new products, and living the PugMom life. I also like to blog about makeup and beauty stuff, because although Iโ€™ll get dirty hiking mountains or riding my bike here in Phoenix, Iโ€™m a total girly girl!
