Runner Unite For Boston
I haven’t blogged about Boston yet, but I have had a lot of time to think since it happened.
When NYC Marathon got cancelled, I was among many runners that came together for a common cause to try and make good out of a bad situation. It showed the true spirit of the marathoner (or any runner for that matter.)
The tragedy that happened at the Boston Marathon was an act of senseless violence taken out on innocent people. It was horrible, and scary, and no one will ever understand why acts like this happen in the world.
What I do understand, however, is that the running world is strong. We are resilient and we persevere through tough times. If you are a runner, you are family. I can’t explain it, it just is what it is, and it’s awesome.
Runners all over the country (and maybe even the world?) are coming together this Monday, a week after Marathon Monday, to run for a cause. We are coming together to show that we can’t be stopped! These say it all:
So on Monday, join together with your family and run, not only because you love to run, but because your heart is in Boston with the victims, and all those that have been affected. Show them that our spirit cannot be defeated. “You can take away our marathon, but you can’t take away our spirit” was my saying from New York. Here is what is happening for Boston:
This is happening at iRun around 48th St and Indian School.
This is happening at all 3 Sole Sports locations at 6:30 on Monday 4/22. I am hoping to be at the Sole Sports Tempe location for my run!
I hope everyone in Boston is recovering and may peace comfort your hearts as you see everyone rally for you!
Happy Trails,
Stacey
