Be Good to Yourself Week

Have you guys ever gotten to a point in your life where you've been doing everything you need to do, but you've neglected to do the small things that really feed your soul? You've forgotten to be good to yourself emotionally, mentally, physically and/or spiritually?

This can manifest in many different forms. Maybe you've been grabbing whatever you can get your hands on to eat while you're on the run, because you don't have time to fix something healthy for dinner. Maybe you've skipped workouts to get extra work done or run your kids around town for one reason or another. Perhaps you read a daily meditation every morning that gets you in the right frame of mind before you start your day, but you've been letting it slide. Or, you keep chasing after a relationship or friendship because it's easy and comfortable, even though it is not in your best interest. You find yourself giving and being a good friend, only to be taken for granted. Suddenly, you're faced with an eye opening situation that causes you to realize that you really need to love yourself more, and allow God to remove the situation from your life like He's been trying to do for so long.

Whatever your situation may be, let's make an effort this week to take a little bit of time each day for ourselves. Luckily for a lot of people, this week is a short work week and there is a nice long weekend ahead. What have you been wanting to do, but have been putting off? How about that trail run that you and your friends keep talking about, but never actually end up doing? Is there a book you really want to read that is collecting dust on your shelf? Pick it up! Lock yourself in a happy place, away from everyone else, and stick your nose in that book for an hour or two. You deserve it! My situation? I am taking back my heart, and using my brain a little more. Have you guys seen this?:

This is the story of my damn life. I love that I have a huge heart. It is part of what makes me the person that I am. It guides me down the wrong path a lot, though. I am still a work in progress as far as balancing out heart and brain. Who's with me? It's like the situation I was in took a turn, and all of the sudden my eyes opened and I saw it for what it really was. So I said to myself "F-this, I'm out." People that don't appreciate my heart don't deserve it. Period.

I have also spent all week preparing for my Housewarming and Ali's 10th Birthday Party, so a lot things got pushed to the side to do later. Now, I don't have any parties to plan and prepare for, any moving to do, or trips to pack for. I am spending this week being extra good to myself. I am going to put myself first, pamper myself, read some books, eat well like I have the personal chef that Oprah does, and relax to stave off the stress of my injury and planning for this surgery.

What are you going to do for yourself this week? Leave a comment below sharing your "Be Good to Yourself Week" plans! Let's do this guys!

Happy Trails!

Stacey
