This Is Getting Real
I hope you guys have had a great week so far! I am so so so ready to get going to California and get my surgery done! It's starting to feel really real now that I am packing and making definitive plans.
I want to share some stuff with you from last weekend that I haven't shown you yet.
Lisa and I went to dinner for a girls' night at The Gladly on Saturday. This restaurant is owned and created by the same people as Cowboy Ciao and Citizen Public House. It would only make sense that they serve the Original (a.k.a. The Stetson) Chopped Salad:
I could eat this salad everyday.
We also got the Roasted Brussels Sprouts on top of corn grits with truffle oil. I'm not a Brussels Sprouts person, but this dish made me a believer. I think I just need to learn to cook them the right way, and I might actually like them!
Our second appetizer we split was the Lamb Riblettes. They were fall off the bone tender, and tasted fantastic!
For the main course, we had Pan Seared Scallops. Perfectly cooked, on top of delectable sweet corn grits with a chopped bacon sprinkle. We're not going to talk about the calories. Nope! I said no!
Lisa and I splitting the chopped salad.
The tabs came clipped with these mini clothes pins, and I told our waiter how cute I thought they were, so he gave me some. Heeeeeey!
I was lazy the rest of the weekend and just stayed home and studied.
Ali and I went to Hillside Spot on Monday afternoon, and relaxed outside in the beautiful spring-like weather we're having here in AZ. After Hillside, I took her to the vet to get her eye checked out. It looked like she had an eye infection, and indeed it was. Dr. Iverson gave her an eye drop and she's already looking much better. That night, we went to Sole Sports Tempe for an event with Brooks to promote their new shoe called the Transcend. Tiffany, their rep, explained how they work. Basically, what I got from her explanation is that these shoes can be worn by someone that needs some stability or that just needs a neutral shoe. They have guide rails along the sides that support a pronating foot when it is pronating, but won't affect a foot that is not in a negative way. I am really intrigued by them, and am considering trying them once I'm back in the game. Here I am posing on my "good" leg in the Transcends:
We got home after our long day, and I had a plan for a quick and easy meal. I used GF sweet potato fettuccini that I got in my Taste Guru box last month.
They are legit you guys!! I paired them with sautéed veggies in tomato sauce with tofu and here's what I got:
This was a quick and easy, healthy success for a dinner!
Tuesday, I decided to get ready and go study before my date with my neighbors for Taco Tuesday. I had more fun with my Naked 3 pallette based on a look by KatherineLights. It added a dark purple color that was a dupe for MAC's Fig 1 apparently. It turned out great!
Note to self: liquid, gel or cream eyeliner still takes a lifetime to do.
Here is my typical bowl of fruit, black coffee, and flavored unsweetened iced tea. They all know me now, and know what I get almost every time I go there. If I could buy stock in Hillspide Spot, I would for sure!
I'll leave you with a hint about my next post. That's it! I look forward to talking with you guys again soon! Also, keep an eye out for Friday's post! I have a very special surprise to share with you! No, it's not Valentine's Day related. It could be my reason to celebrate on Friday, though! Stay tuned!!
Happy Trails!
