Last Day in Cali and Surgery Pics
This is how I feel all the time:
I went for a nice top down ride around Laguna in my last day in Cali. Weather was perfect. Beach was perfect. I'm going to miss it!
I won't be gone for long, though! Dr. Guanche and I discussed my left leg (just had surgery on the right one) at my post-op appointment last Tuesday, and decided to go ahead and do the surgery on it ASAP while I'm already out on leave. What I have figured out based on the amount of scar tissue that he removed is that this issue truly did start when I was dancing back in high school and college. I had hamstring problems then, just nowhere near as bad as I do now. The issue lasted quite awhile, and went back and forth from leg to leg several times before it finally cleared up going into my sophomore year at Purdue. I know some of the scar tissue has to date back to those days of dancing. This is another reason we decided to go ahead and do the surgery now. I told him the same story, and he said I would probably need surgery eventually anyway, so let's just do it now.
********GRAPHIC PICS FOR THE WEAK STOMACHED********
The pictures really aren't that bad, at least to me. The first two are of the inflamed bursa at my greater trochanter that he removed. The 003 is of the scar tissue on my piriformis encompassing the sciatic nerve. 004 is of the beginning of the removal process. 005 shows the sciatic nerve which is in the bottom right quadrant of the picture where the little triangle is sticking out. (Did you guys know that the sciatic nerve is about as thick as the pinky? I had no idea!) The white areas are the scar tissue. 006 shows the area with the scar tissue cleaned out.
These are the incision spots - two posterior to the greater trochanter and one on the anterior side (back and front, respectively.)
Getting back to my last day in Cali, I had lunch at Harpoon Henry's in Dana Point. I had their macadamia crusted mahi topped with mango salsa with wild rice pilaf, and tore it up:
There was even an edible orchid on the plate! I've never eaten a flower, so I decided to wear it instead :-).
I wish I could live in California without having to sell my left kidney. Look how beautiful Dana Point is:
After lunch, I went to Aliso Beach park in Laguna Beach and did a little bit of studying. The waves were huge! Neither of these pictures really did them justice.
I tasked to some drunk ladies that were drawing in the sand and taking pictures. They took pics for me, I took pics for them, and then I drew in the sand and took pictures myself!
