My Favorite Hair Products

I was out to brunch with some of my girlfriends this past weekend, and was asked what products I use in my hair. I was telling them everything, and decided that it might be easier to do a blog post about it! I’ve been really happy with the things I’ve been using lately. If you’re new to Pugmamastace, welcome! Just so you know,I have long brown and blond ombre hair that goes about halfway down my back. It is fine, but I have a lot of it. So lets start with shampoo and conditioner. 

I have been using this shampoo for the past month or so:

This brand was suggested to me by a stylist at Ulta during their liter sale. Pureology wasn’t included in the sale, so I wanted something that was still good, but wasn’t going to cost me $100! It smells incredible, and works very well! It feels like it is moisturizing my hair when I am lathering it up. Before this, I was using Paul Mitchell’s Lemon Sage tea tree oil (I believe if I remember right) shampoo. My scalp gets really dry in the winter, so last year I bought it to help with those issues, and ended up really liking it! They were out of it at the last liter sale :-(. My Ulta seems to always be out of SO much ALL of the time! Does anyone else experience that same problem? 

As far as conditioner, I love this one from Pureology:

Once a year, Beauty Brands has a sale specifically for this brand. I think it is once a year, but it might be twice. I just know that it is rare to get Pureology on sale, so I take full advantage! I got 15% off of this bottle. It still hurts to pay so much for conditioner, but I’ll tell you guys right now, nothing compares to this. 

I also saw this brand of conditioner during the liter sale at Beauty Brands, and asked one of the employees about it. She said that she just purchased it, and absolutely loved it! It was fairly reasonable and I hadn’t gotten my Pureology yet, so I decided to take a risk and try it.

It smells fantastic! It also does a great job moisturizing my hair without weighing it down. I put it (and all conditioners) mainly on the lower 2/3 of my hair, and just a little bit up around the scalp. It doesn’t take much to weigh my hair down, and it is fine enough already. There were a couple of different formulas, and I don’t remember what they were, but this one was perfect for me! 

Once every week or two when I remember, I add half of a pump of this to my conditioner:

It is by far one of the best things I have done for my hair. I started using it probably 4 years ago, and never looked back! Just add about a dime-sized amount to conditioner in your hand, rub your hands together to mix it, and apply like normal. Leave it on for a few minutes, and then rinse out. It’s a great treatment that adds moisture and shine to your hair, and again (at least for me) doesn’t weigh it down. It is pricey, but a little goes a long way and I only use it once a week max. It it totally worth the investment!

Every week or two I also use a deep conditioning treatment. Here are a couple of good ones I have been using recently:

I have enjoyed both of these conditioners. I apply them starting from the ends of my hair, and working up toward my scalp, concentrating on the lower 2/3 of my hair. I do something else for 5 minutes, and then rinse out. I got the Fekkai in my Birchbox last month. I believe you can find both brands at Walgreens or Ulta.

When I get out of the shower and towel dry my hair, I spray this all over to help detangle and nourish it:

I really like this, and have already repurchased it twice! I use a Tangle Teaser to brush out my hair. Having hair this long tends to cause rats’ nests to happen more often than desired! The Tangle Teaser is more gentle on the hair, and causes less to rip out when detangling. I have no idea how it works, but it’s awesome! 

I also like to spray this on my ends before I dry my hair on the days I don’t use the Macadamia Healing Oil with my conditioner:

I got this in my Birchbox a few months ago, and showed it in my video of the opening. This stuff rocks! You only need a few sprays, and you’re good to go. 

I got this last product on sale at Walgreens, but I’m not sure if they carry it anymore. You can always try Ulta or another drug store.

It’s just an oil for the ends of your hair. Again, like with a lot of these products, a little goes a long way. I put a drop about the size of a pea or smaller, rub it between my hands, and then lightly run my fingers through the bottom 1/4 of my hair. I smooth down any flyaways after most of the is off of my hands.
