I Missed the 405 So Much That I Went Back
I flew back to LA for my follow-up visit with Dr Guanche yesterday. I was supposed to observe surgeries with him all afternoon, but he ended up having guests from overseas there to observe and wasn’t able to get my into the OR. He said next time I am in town for sure!
So The Burbank airport decided it would be great to have this in the terminal to tempt the tired, vulnerable travelers that have makeup obsessions. Luckily, I had some restraint haha!
I still had to get a picture with it, though!
I got to drive a Bug this time! I’ve never driven one before this trip, but man, they are fast!! I totally didn’t expect it to have pick-up, but it did! There’s a first time for everything.
I posted this on Instagram Monday. I saw this energy drink, and had to try it! It was actually pretty good!
I stopped by Morphe brushes on my way to the hotel. I am on a makeup no-buy this month. I HAD to make one exception, though, because it’s not like I am in California everyday. Morphe brushes are very reasonable, and great quality! Jaclyn Hill even collaborated with them to make a palette of her favorite eyeshadows of theirs. Each eyeshadow is $2 a piece, and such great quality that I’m not even sure how they make money off of them!
It’s a small shop, and was very crowded! I think they’ve probably gotten a lot more traffic since they became more popular on YouTube. Having a collab with Jaclyn Hill didn’t hurt either ;-).
Of course I had to pick up Jaclyn’s palette! It’s been sold out online since the first pre-sale happened that caused their website to crash! (Well, there were the hackers that helped make that happen, too….) I think they’re doing one more pre-sale for the palette that will ship in February if I’m not mistaken.
Look how gorgeous the colors are! She did a great job. The only thing I wish was in there is a matte brow bone highlight. There is a nice shimmery one, but I like to use a matte highlight with shimmery looks. NBD, though, because I already have a few good ones at home.
I’ve already used the purples on the bottom row and, the light and medium peach colors from the far left on the bottom two rows. I am a fan, and can’t wait to do a review on it for you guys!
I booked a room at the Hollywood Roosevelt for Monday night, because I wanted to stay somewhere fun where things would be going on. Next time, I’ll be sure to stay there on any night other than a Monday!
I was starving. I ate the whole thing. After I got back before bed, I had a candy bar and an extra large Kit Kat bar. I think I need an intervention. NOT kidding.
The hotel was beatiftul inside! This was the lobby, which is known for its architecture.
I did meet a really nice guy from Philly that works for NBC, though, and ended up having great conversation all evening.
Along with my room, I got a $50 credit for food and beverage. I ordered an egg white frittata for breakfast, and look what came with it!
Is that not the cutest thing you’ve ever seen!? I totally took it with me. You just never know when you’re going to need Tabasco on the go.
I enjoyed my experience there, except for the construction they had going on right below me. When the lady at the front desk asked me how my stay was, I told her it was great besides the construction. She apologized, and gave me a $100 credit for my room!! How awesome was that?
My appointment went really well today. Dr Guanche says I am doing very well, and that the pain and popping I am feeling is completely normal. He also told me that I should really start to feel normal again at about 4 months post-op. I’m not sure when I am going to be going back to work after the experience I’ve had walking these past two days. My pain level went from about a 2 to 3 when walking only after so long to about a 7 yesterday after I got to the hotel. I am actually glad I tested it out before I made the mistake of going back too soon. Hopefully in a few weeks I’ll be at that point. I asked him if it was the biceps femoris that he removed and reattached, and he said it was actually all three hamstring muscles!! No wonder this is taking to long to feel better! I am not rushing anything. I did schedule my next surgery, though, and am really looking forward to having all of them over with. (God-willing) The next one will be the last, and I will finally have my life back. I’ll keep you guys updated on my progress :-).
I am at the airport in Burbank right now, and ended up getting to watch the Louisville game while eating dinner!!
This place knows how to make a girl very happy!! I also had a chicken burrito bowl with pico, black beans, guacamole, quinoa and hot salsa. It was awesome!! Now I need a nap.
I am going to go board my plane now. I can’t wait to see my Aligator!!! Vanessa took wonderful care of her while I was gone, as per usual :-).
I hope you guys have an awesome rest of your week!! I’ll be back soon with a new tutorial that I’ve been working really hard on!
Happy Trails!
