TCNYC Training Week Two!
This week hasn’t been as crazy as last week was, thank God! I had a nice, relaxing weekend off, and got in a few good training runs and another barbell strengthening class. I actually wore just a sports bra (a really cute one from Sole Sports!) and cropped pants to the gym today! I haven’t done that in years. The fact that I felt confident enough to do that means I have come a long way since my out of shape beer belly days!
I actually rested Sunday and Monday. I did 3 miles in about 31 minutes on Tuesday with Karen and Rebecca. Right afterwards, we saw coach Loken doing her thing through Tukee. She was so fast, I almost didn’t see who she was! WHAT an inspiration! Today, I did my track workout of 6X400 meters at 9:40 followed by 200 meters at 11:06 on the treadmill at LTF. Then, I did an hour barbell strength training class. My “good” knee is complaining a little bit today.
Ironically, we have an injury prevention clinic tonight with TCNYC, so I can potentially address what is going on before it gets any worse. I plan to rest tomorrow, and do an 8 mile relaxed long run Saturday morning. I work all weekend, unfortunately, but it is what it is. Sunday is a 3 mile recovery run.
Meanwhile in the Daly household, the head Pug is busy trying to get her share of our meals. This picture was taken when she was begging for my dinner last week. Yes, I am fully aware of the need to trim her nails. She turns into Kujo when we try to trim them ourselves, so we have to take her to get them done. Wanna piss off our pug? Go to her with nail trimmers and grab her paw. The smile goes bye bye!
So I agreed to work from 3am-7am overnight tonight in exchange for 5pm-9pm tomorrow night being covered at my store. This is a mutually beneficial situation, in that I will be off work from my store at 5pm. This allows me to get to bed early for my 5AM long run Saturday morning. It is so hot, that we are starting even earlier now; right at sunrise!
So almost done with week two of marathon training, and I’m hanging in there! I am so blessed to be training with such an awesome coach and awesome group of runners! I am SO excited for New York!
Have a great weekend everyone!
Happy Trails!
