Getting’ My Sweat On
Today, I started off my day with my favorite meeting. Then, I went Target to get a new pair of sunglasses because my current ones got scratched in the most annoying place-right in front of my left eye. I found these that were on sale for $6.54! Woo hoo!! I love going somewhere expecting to pay $20 for something and having it turn out this way!
After Target, I went to LTF and did an hour of yoga and an hour of Zumba. The yoga class was called Vinyasa Flow, or something along those lines. It went way faster than I am used to, but I really liked it! There were so many people in that room that I was scared to try anything too fancy for fear that I would fall ON someone! That’s when you know a class is good. There was a girl next to me that I swear was a professional! She was amazing! I swear she did this:
It looked something like that, and it was amazing! Every pose she did, she did the hardest and most advanced version I have ever seen! It turned out, she was a cheerleader back in the day (yeah? same here….) and has only been doing yoga for about 8 months because of a knee injury. She has inspired me to try and get better at yoga, because I have done what she’s done, and I think I can! These chatarungas are going to make my arms ripped if I keep this up! Yay!!!
Zumba was a riot! I walked in, looked at the instructor, and just wasn’t sure how this was going to go. Turns out, she is somewhere between 40-50 and she can shake it! I swear Zumba instructors have caffeine running through their veins, because they are like Energizer Bunnies!! It was a lot of fun. It did aggravate my hamstring a little bit though, so I have to be really careful in the future. It felt great to get some good cardio in. Ragnar is in a week, and I haven’t run for three.
After my workouts, I went by AJ’s and Safeway to pick up some food for today. I am juicing again, and making some really nice and fresh seafood for dinner tonight. I had this awesome salad for lunch:
Spring greens, rotisserie chicken, artichoke, black olives, roasted red peppers, sun-dried tomatoes, mushrooms, fat free feta cheese and a sprinkle of chia seeds. I heard some guy on TV last night say that chia seeds are the most powerful grain out there. Interesting….I also used this fantastic dressing that I got at AJ’s:
It’s the dressing that my friend Kat used on our salads last week at her house. Definitely worth going to AJ’s for. AJ’s also has really good tea at their deli. I got a large passion fruit iced tea with fresh orange in it. They are unsweetened and have great flavor! It’s much warmer in Phoenix today than it has been, (or course right after I get my heater fixed) so it was a nice refreshing cool drink to go with a beautiful warm day.
I have decided to join another challenge. This one is much bigger and has prizes! I learned about it on Mary Baum’s blog – Food and Fun On the Run. Here is an overview of the challenge from her page:
Amanda at Run to the Finish is the one heading up this challenge. If you join, you will have access to a network of people that are in the same boat as you are-trying to get or stay in shape, and have motivation and support to do so. It is perfect timing to get in shape or improve your body for swim suit season! Let me know if you end up signing up!
I am now going to have some fresh juice and a banana. I might watch a movie or something on TV, or I might read. I hope everyone has a great Saturday night!
What did you do for exercise today?
What is a good movie you’ve seen lately?
Happy Trails!
