Vega Sport Recovery Accelerator Review

It probably seems weird that I am trying out a post-workout drink being that I'm injured. Don't forget, though, that when your body is healing itself, you need to make sure you are giving it what it needs to do so!

When given the opportunity to review a product from Vega Sport by Sweat Pink, I jumped at the chance to try their Recovery Accelerator. I'm currently in PT trying to build my body back up and recover from three orthopedic surgeries I've had since February, and my body needs all the help it can get!

Vega Sport Recovery Accelerator is an all natural, plant-based product that is dairy, gluten, and soy-free. It comes in Tropical (the flavor I tried) and Apple Berry flavors. It arrived in a box of 12 packets, which are each a serving. I poured one packet into a 16.9 ounce bottle of water, shook it up, and that's it!

The flavor was good, and it had a little bit of a thicker texture. It definitely seemed like I was drinking a substantial amount of nutrition, if that makes sense. It did not taste like just tropical flavored water, although it wasn't as thick as a protein shake. I made sure to consume it within 20 minutes of my PT so it could do it's work during the most crucial window of post-workout recovery.

Here are some of the stats according to Vega Sport's website:

  • 4:1 ratio of carbohydrates to protein which shown to increase muscle glycogen re-synthesis
  • Works on six elements of post-workout recovery: muscle glycogen replenishment, muscle tissue repair and protein synthesis, hormonal support, soft-tissue repair, immune system support, inflammation reduction and rehydration
  • Contains 2.5g of BCAA's, 2g of glutamine, and 1g of omega-3 fatty acids
  • 15g of sugar
  • 80 calories per scoop
  • 23 ingredients:

Another cool thing about Vega Sport is that their products are Informed Choice certified, which means they have been tested for substances on the World Anti-Doping Agency list. This means they are safe for athletes to use (according to their website.)

I have to add my two cents as a pharmacist to this review, though. A few of the ingredients (ie: Devil's Claw, ginseng, omega-3's) can affect blood clotting or blood thinners if you are taking them, or have any issues regarding such things. Please inform your doctor if you plan on using this and take any kind of medication that causes blood thinning. This won't be an issue for most, but I just want to make sure I put it out there.

All in all, I liked the product! I especially like that it isn't loaded with calories, so I can use it without feeling like I'm negating the hard work I've done.

The cost is $2.49 for a single packet (90 calories per packet,) $26.99 for a box of 12 packets, and $39.99 for a tub (20x27g servings.) Click here to order!

Have any of you guys tried Vega Sport? Which products did you like? Leave me some love below and let me know! #fuelyourbetter

Happy Trails!

Stacey
