Week In Review and Keeping Myself From Going Crazy

This weekend has been boring, uneventful and anticlimactic. I decided to just stay in and relax. I won't be doing that again for awhile. Being bored is driving me out of my mind! So I'll start with last weekend's fun.

Lisa, Michelle and I went out to The Henry for dinner on Saturday. It had a great atmosphere and amazing food! I had the Thai Peanut Cod, which was perfectly cooked:

We sat at a table right below the air vent, and we were all cold. I got a decaf cappuccino to warm up:

They also have a really good looking breakfast/brunch menu, so we'll definitely be coming back!

Monday, I got some sun early in the morning before it got too hot. Ali thinks it's cute to pose backwards for the camera.

Usually this is her standing right in front of my face if I'm laying in bed. #pugmomproblems

Much better Ali! So we hung out for a bit, and then when I got to the point where I wanted to jump in a pool of ice, we went inside.

Monday afternoon I was able to replace a few items that got stolen, one of which, I totally didn't expect to find!

This is my favorite paint pot from MAC, and it was a limited edition when I bought it the first time. I found out by chance that it was made permanent! Woo hoo!! It was my favorite thing I got that day.

Monday night, I met Sarah for dinner at The Gladly when she got into town. I wanted to introduce her to the Original Chopped Salad. It was amazing as always! She was in town for business, and stayed here with Ali and me.

Tuesday, I got a few things in the mail that I ordered the week before. I wanted to try some of Makeup Geek's eyeshadows since I've heard great things. I also got a few of their pigments. Makeup Geek is way less expensive than MAC, so I was pleased to discover that the quality is comparable. I definitely have to give a shout out to Marlena, who is the creator of MUG, and let her know that her products are legit!! I can't wait to try her blushes! Her website is not only the MUG store, but it has her YouTube videos, blogs, idea galleries, and much more. It's a great resource for makeup junkies! Check out these gorgeous colors:

Is that not the blackest black you've ever seen? It'll be awesome for smudging out liner, deepening the crease in smokey looks, setting the waterline, etc. Look how cute the packaging is!

Here are the pigments:

This pigment reminds me of Blue Brown from MAC. It's brown with a blue duo chrome, and looks really cool packed on the lid with browns in the crease.

I also did some rearranging and reorganizing of my makeup station. I forget to use things when I don't see them. I've been wanting to do this for a long time, since I have so many palettes in drawers that I forget I even have.

I look at the amount of makeup I have, and I still have so little compared to some of the makeup bloggers and Youtube gurus I follow. Still, I have way more than the average female. If you think about it, though, it's like any other hobby or collector's item. Take baseball cards for instance. Some people collect and collect, and accrue and accrue until they have a completely ridiculous amount, right? The collection just sits there and collects dust until occasionally, they get looked at. Then, they continue to collect dust. Well, at least you can USE makeup, and it doesn't just sit there! It's fun to use, sparks creativity, and builds a woman's self confidence! So that's how I look at it.

So as for the rest of the week, I just went to the usual PT and meetings, and tried to eat well and rest as much as possible.

That was an epic lunch. Super healthy and all fresh stuff. Rainier cherries are in season!!! If you've never had them, get them while you can. They are fantabulous!

I also rearranged my Zpalette to include my new colors and make it more aesthetically pleasing for myself.

I've been watching a lot of YouTube videos lately, too. I love watching them to get ideas for myself. I've also learned so much from them! I thought I already knew how to do good makeup, and I wasn't bad, mind you, but I had no idea how much I still had to learn! One of my favorite new Youtubers (new to me) is Jaclyn Hill. My sorority sister Becky suggested her, and she's fantastic! She used to work for MAC, and is really knowledgeable. Plus, she crazy silly like me and is really fun to watch!

I decided to have some fun with makeup last night, and came up with this look:

Nothing too fancy shmancy. A smokey look using Satin Taupe and my new MUG shadow in Burlesque with a nude lip. I need to make plans for next weekend. I can't do this whole "stay home and relax" thing again. I'm going to implode. Anyway, thanks for stopping by, and I hope you guys enjoyed this post! Have a great week!

Happy Trails,
Stacey
