My Dog is Hypothyroid and I'm Going Back to Work

I put Ali on a diet for the past month or two by removing about a 1/4 cup of kibble and replacing it with no salt added green beans. (She gained a few pounds from the prednisone she was on back in May.) When I brought her to the vet this past week because of another allergy flare up, I fully expected her to weigh 25lbs, and Dr. Iverson be like "awesome job, she lost weight!" Yeah.....no. She gained 3 lbs, which is 10% of her body weight! and topped out at about 30lbs. My little nugget has turned into a little chunk! So Dr. Iverson decided to run a full thyroid panel on her, and low and behold, she's a little hypothyroid chunk! This makes perfect sense as to why she gained weight on a diet. She is now on levothyroxine twice a day, and we'll be getting her levels rechecked in about a month. I have a poly pharmacy puglet!!

I officially go back to work on Friday, and I am definitely looking forward to it. It's been so long, and I'm so ready to have my life and purpose back. I've done a lot of personal growth over the past 15 months, and I know it's going to make dealing with stress at my job a lot easier to handle. I'm going to ease back into the saddle, and when the right opportunity comes along for management, I'll step up.

I have had another good week in PT! I was cleared by LaRissa to ride my bike on Monday, so Lisa and I went Tuesday morning and it was wonderful! It feels so good to be able to workout again, I can't even express it in words! I still have a ton of work to do to get myself in tip-top condition. I decided to write down my goals instead of my plans for the future. There's not a particular timeline on which I expect to achieve these, which is a much better outlook for me to have in my situation. This whole 15 months has had a theme: "I make plans, God laughs." So here are my goals, which are on my dry erase board in my workout room:

I need to go up and check off "bike!" Speaking of bike, I am going to attempt to change a flat tire on mine today. It can't be that hard, right? I've done much harder tasks around the house. Wish me luck!!

I just wanted to give you guys an update of what's been going on. I have a ton of ideas brewing and accumulating on my idea list for the fall. I can't wait to share them with you! Since I'm going to be working now, I'll probably be posting twice a week. I'd love to do three a week, but I have to get a feel for what it's going to be like back to full time work again and trying to squeeze blogging in on my days off.

Thanks for stopping by my friends! Have an awesome rest of your week!

Happy Trails!

Stacey
