Why Makeup and Beauty
I have had people ask me why it is that I like makeup and beauty so much. I’ve done some thinking about it, and come to realize a couple of reasons. First, in my career as a pharmacist, I tend to use the left side of my brain more. The silent part of my work where I am staring at the computer all day pressing “enter” over and over actually involves deep concentration, analysis, logic, and use of what I know as a clinician. The only way I really use the right side of my brain at work is counseling patients (which I do get to do) and working with my team members. In other words, I don’t get a lot of opportunity for artistic expression in my career on a daily basis.
I have found that makeup art and beauty, as well as cooking, allow me to use the other side of my brain. My hobbies keep me balanced, and give me a form of release from stress, especially since I’ve been sidelined from running for as long as I have been.
Another reason is taking care of myself and feeling beautiful. Beauty is not just on the outside. A person can be beautiful and have a perfect body, and still be an ugly person on the inside. I find that having humility and genuine concern for other people are forms of inner beauty. Working on yourself as a person on the inside is just as important, if not more, than improving the outside. However, feeling beautiful, taken care of, and put together can go a long way in boosting a woman’s (and even a man’s) confidence. Inner and outer beauty go hand in hand. I enjoy working on both.
I’ve really been enjoying my makeup station since I upgraded it! Here is a pic of me in action this past weekend:
I filmed my first “Get Ready With Me” video on Sunday! The lighting at my station may not be conducive to filming, though, so I need to look into possibly getting different lights to use for that. I had so much fun filming and talking to you guys that it ended up being way too long to post! I knew I was going to edit it, but I really have my work cut out for me with this one! I am hoping to have it up by the end of next week.
Here is one of the new products I used in the video. I am super excited to tell you guys about it! It looks crazy glittery, but it can definitely be toned down to your desired taste.
I am also trying out a new product that was recommended to me by my friend Kelly. I am going to give it a couple of months to see how well it works, and then get back to you. She’s not one to buy into something that is a gimmick, so I have high hopes!
Last but not least, here is the look from the GRWM video:
Stay tuned for the video, an amazing Turkey Burger recipe, and info on some skin care products I am loving at the moment.
Have an awesome day!
Happy Trails,
Stacey
